Welcome Team
What is it?
The Welcome Team at Encounter Church are in many respects the front face of the church. We greet everyone that comes to a service at the entrance area, with a smile and a warm word of welcome. We provide a point of contact for all visitors, anyone new to the church as well as regular attendees.
What would I do?
Those serving on the Welcome Team arrive 45 minutes before the service starts. They check that there is information on the Welcome Desk for upcoming events. They check that the creche room is set up for use. The team is instrumental in overseeing the seating of all and helping to answer any questions that guests may have. At the end of the service, we facilitate those who would like to give by cash or card machine - and thank everyone for coming and give them an encouraging word as they leave.
How often would I serve?
The rota is set up on a 3 monthly basis throughout the year. Each member of the team serves at least once per month. We have a minimum of 3 people on the team for each service.
What kind of training is provided?
We plan to meet annually to chat through the Welcome Team ministry and pray for each other and the church. We give on the job training for new members of the team.
Spiritual Gifts or attributes would help in this ministry include: Friendliness, Hospitality, Discernment and Encouragement.
Is being in membership at EC a pre-requisite?
No – but we would expect Welcome Team members to have been coming (regularly) to EC for at least 3 months.
