Multimedia Team

What is it?

The multimedia team is responsible for running the multimedia setup at Encounter Church. This involves setting up, displaying and running the worship lyrics in the song sets as well as videos, bible verses and presentations required during services. Another function could be to remotely operate the cameras to capture video and ensure live video editing of images during the service for live-streaming and recording. The primary objective is to enhance worship and the experience of worship in the church, which require a good level of synchronisation with the worship team and sound technician.

The multimedia team is also responsible for setting up the lighting of the stage and hall as well as backgrounds for the display of the lyrics during worship. Since church services are recorded and usually live-streamed on YouTube, the multimedia team will set up and activate the live streaming and/or recording of services and functions in the church hall.

What would I do?

Serving on the multimedia team will involve either running the multimedia desk or the cameras from the multimedia room. The multimedia room is at the back of the church hall and there will usually be 2 members of the team on duty for each service or function - one member will control the 3 cameras and live video editing remotely whilst the other member will operate the multimedia desk setting up and running the lyrics, presentations, videos and lights. The hardware setup is fixed and all the interaction in the multimedia room is mostly via computers and software including the remote control of the cameras.

How often will I serve?

There are quite a few team members who take it in turns to serve utilising a rota prepared by a member of the team. It is expected that each member will serve about once a month on average although special occasions are extra and optional.

What experience would be helpful?

Previous experience of operating computers is essential and familiarity with operating software will be useful. Previous experience of working with videos and presentations or operating cameras and videography is useful but not essential.

What training is provided?

Training will be given up to the point of competence and depending on previous experience, this may take up to 6 weeks and take place once a week during worship group practice at church. This will cover the full spectrum of the roles in the multimedia team or may cover one or the other function in the multimedia setup - multimedia desk or cameras.

Is being in membership at EC a pre-requisite?

Being a member really communicates your commitment to EC but not required. However, it would be usual for a member to attend EC regularly for 3 months before joining the EC Multimedia team.
